  • Tuesday, October 21, 2008

PRINCESS ANNE, MD Homeowners who are facing foreclosure, worried about an increased interest rate or have other concerns with their mortgage can receive free one-on-one legal advice at a foreclosure solutions workshop on Saturday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Richard A. Henson Center on the campus of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Pre-registration guarantees a free legal consultation with a volunteer attorney to discuss your individual mortgage situation.  Participants can expect to walk away from the workshop with a roadmap of the next steps to take and where to go for help.

Workshop participants should bring all paperwork related to their current and former mortgages -- including the loan application, settlement paperwork and lender statements as well as any foreclosure notices or threats of foreclosure he or she has received.  In addition, participants will need to bring a monthly household budget to the workshop.

The Foreclosure Solutions Workshop is sponsored by UMES, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Delta Sigma Omega Chapter.  It is an initiative of the Foreclosure Prevention Pro Bono Project, with the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland and Civil Justice Inc., serving as project partners.

The workshop is free and open to the public, and the facility is handicapped accessible.  To pre-register or for more information, call Marie Billie, Esquire, at 410-651-6400 or Kimberly Dumpson, Esquire, at 410-651-7686.
