    Congratulations on choosing to attend the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES)!

    The University of Maryland Eastern Shore offers affordable first-rate education. The Office of Student Financial Aid team is here to assist you with the costs of your educational investment. Our committed team of professionals works in partnership with you, providing information on available options and assisting you with the financial aid process.

    To be considered for any financial aid, students should apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early in the year as possible, since financial aid is generally awarded on the basis of need and in the order of application.

    Together, we will help you realize just how valuable and worthwhile the UMES experience is.

    Our new awarding philosophy ensures that 90% of our students receive some form of scholarship funding. The UMES Merit Grant awards up to $6,000 per student who qualifies. A minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale is required.

    Attention all current students!

    Please check your to-do list on Hawk Web to see if you have any outstanding documents that need to be turned it to the Financial Aid office. Anyone who has not turned in the necessary documentation will not be granted financial assistance for the upcoming semester.

    You can find your to-do list by clicking the link provided here My UMES. Once you are logged in click on the Hawk web icon in the top left hand corner which will take you to your student center. Once you are in the student center your to-do list is located on the right hand side.

    The process of applying for aid can seem complicated and time consuming, and we want to make it a pleasant experience for you. To that end, The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is delighted to offer you information about financial assistance. Our site includes an overview of the aid programs offered at the University and how to apply.

    Application review, verification (if selected), and awarding of aid must be completed before aid can be disbursed.
    Authorizing disbursement of aid is contingent on the student’s financial aid file status and enrollment. If a student’s file is incomplete at the time of the scheduled disbursement dates, the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) WILL NOT authorize any award(s) to disburse until after all financial aid holds and/or incomplete flags are cleared.
